The Race for a Place to Call Home begins and ends at the North Pavilion in Riverside Park, Janesville, Wisconsin. This morning event proceeds regardless of weather. Check-in occurs before the start; runners depart first, followed by walkers once they are on the course. Participants can choose from several options: a timed 5K run, an untimed 5K walk, a timed 10K run, the timed 16:49 Challenge, and a 1-mile run/walk.
The 5K course is noted as flat and fast, with professional chip timing for runners. Trophies are awarded to the top three male and female finishers in the timed 5K and 10K races, along with prizes for age-group winners. All participants receive a bib, shirt, finisher medal with lanyard, and a swag bag. The race supports Project 16:49, a Rock County nonprofit assisting unaccompanied homeless youth with essential needs, case management, and transitional housing.
