Run Like the Wind is a small spring trail running festival at the Wild Horse Wind and Solar Facility near Ellensburg, Washington. The event provides a 5K, a 10K, and a free kids dash, with the field limited to 200 participants. The races utilize the facility’s trails, paths, and roads, so runners pass directly through a working wind and solar site rather than a typical park or city course.
The route is challenging for its distance, featuring significant climbing, descending, rough trail, and wind near the turbines. On clear days, runners can see Mt. Rainier, the Columbia River, and the open plains of Eastern Washington. Participants may add a guided wind-farm tour before or after racing, and the finish line offers beer from Iron Horse Brewery and homemade food. Run for Good Racing Company organizes the event with Puget Sound Energy and the Wild Horse facility, and proceeds support Kittitas County Search and Rescue.
