The Stein Dash is a 5K run held at the Washington State Fair events center in Puyallup. It is structured around Oktoberfest NW, differing from typical water-stop races. Participants run 3.1 miles carrying a stein. The course features three Beer Zones where runners can sample a different beer before resuming their timed run.
Registration includes a commemorative stein, an event shirt, and a bib, making the race attire functional as both costume and drinking vessel. The finish line leads directly into the Festhalle at Oktoberfest NW, where the post-race activities include beer, food, football on television, oompah and polka music, and Wiener Dog Races. Now in its second year, the event also offers a half-mile Root Beer Run for children 10 and under, with root beer available at the halfway point.
