ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot

The ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot begins at The Long Center in downtown Austin, offering Texans a Thanksgiving morning run before their meal. Its primary event is a 5-mile family run, noted as the largest 5-mile race in Texas. A 1-mile walk and a Kids-K are also available, providing simpler options for families to participate. Participants can choose timed or untimed starts, and a virtual option allows engagement for those not attending in person. The 1-mile walk follows the streets surrounding Butler Park. The main attraction is the diverse Thanksgiving crowd: club runners, casual joggers, walkers, children, and families observing a shared holiday tradition. ThunderCloud Subs has backed Caritas of Austin via the race since 1991, directing raffle-ticket revenue and donations to the organization. Caritas assists individuals experiencing poverty with meals, employment services, and housing support, making the event's charitable aspect integral to the day.
