Turkey Trails- Des Moines is a Thanksgiving-themed race at Gray's Lake Park in Des Moines, Iowa. It offers a half marathon, 10K, 5K, 1 mile, and Kids Dash. The main races are chip-timed with live results, overall awards, masters awards, and age-group awards. The 1 Mile, Kids Dash, and virtual option are untimed. The event is designed for families and regular runners, with youth pricing for the 5K and 10K and a Kids Dash for children 10 and under.
The race day setup is straightforward: packet pickup is available that morning. The Kids Dash starts just before the main races, and results are posted near the registration tent after the finish. Most in-person entries include a custom bib, designer shirt, and finisher medal. The Kids Dash receives a mini bib, youth shirt, and a kid-specific medal. Finishers receive free photos and pie at the finish line. The event also provides an after-party and a virtual race option for those who want the shirt and medal without traveling to Des Moines.
