The Ecotay 6K and 10K begin and end at Ecotay farm, located near Perth in Tay Valley, Ontario. This restored rural site features barns, rail fences, terraces, fields, and hedgerows. The event is a fall country-road run offering two loop choices: a 6K and a 10K. Both distances welcome runners and walkers. Participant capacity is capped at 150, creating a small-field atmosphere. The course time limit is 1.5 hours, accommodating steady runners and brisk walkers while keeping the morning schedule on track.
The farm is situated on one of the earliest homesteads of the Scotch Line Settlement, so the race incorporates local history alongside the running. The 10K route travels south on Menzies Munro Sideroad, west on Upper Scotch Line, turns around, then proceeds via Noonan Sideroad, Concession Road 2, and Menzies Munro Sideroad to return. The 6K follows many of these same quiet roads but turns east on Upper Scotch Line. Upon finishing, participants receive a medal, Ecotay's breakfast sandwich, and a choice of an alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverage. The day also features live music, a post-race gathering, and awards for the top male and female finishers.
