Sobre esta carrera
The Forchheimer Silvesterlauf is a New Year's Eve running event near Rheinstetten, featuring a 10 km loop through the Rheinauenwald for its main race. The start is at Karlsruher Strasse and Kastenwoertstrasse, with the finish by the Sportfreunde Forchheim clubhouse. This race is a local end-of-year tradition, popular for over thirty years. A 5 km fun run is also available for runners, walkers, and Nordic walkers, catering to those not focused on a fast 10 km time.
The course consists of a single 10 km circuit within the Rhine floodplain forest, using chip timing integrated into the bib and ground antennas at the start and finish for net times. The 10 km runners begin first, followed soon by the 5 km participants. The event relies significantly on volunteers for marshalling, setup, and teardown, and organizers note increasing difficulty in finding helpers on New Year's Eve. Rather than a full awards ceremony, participants can collect a certificate at the results tent, shortening the finish-area routine for race staff before evening festivities commence.
