Sobre esta carrera
The Deichlauf begins and ends at the sports field of the local sports center in Hohnstorf (Elbe), a village in Lower Saxony situated beside the Elbe River. Held annually in late May or early June, it features multiple race distances: 6 km, 10.6 km, and a half marathon. Additionally, there are 400 m and 1,000 m children's races, along with walking events over 6 km and 10.6 km. The local sports club, TuS Hohnstorf, is the organizer, and the Deichlauf has been a fixture on the town's running schedule for many years.
Most of the course runs alongside the Elbe on maintained field paths with minimal elevation changes, contributing to fast race times. Participants will pass Lauenburg's historic old town early on, then proceed towards Artlenburg and the Elbe Lateral Canal. The 10.6 km runners will loop back to Hohnstorf via flat terrain, while half marathon participants will complete an additional circuit near the Artlenburg wind park before crossing the canal. Refreshments, including water and tea, are available on the course and at the finish line. Winners in each category will receive practical non-cash awards during the prize-giving ceremony.
