Sobre esta carrera
The Brockenlauf begins in Ilsenburg's marketplace, a town in Saxony-Anhalt on the German side of the Harz Mountains. This September event offers several running and walking distances: a 26.2 km main route with 890 meters of elevation gain, alongside 9.6 km, 3.9 km, and 1.8 km options. The event also hosts the German Championship in Mountain Running, marking it as both a local community race and a significant hill-running competition.
The long route presents the primary challenge, while the shorter races accommodate adults, younger participants, and walkers seeking less strenuous climbs. Children have their own 1.8 km races, with categories for age groups up to U10 and U12 to U14. The youth race is provided free of charge. The event typically draws a few thousand participants, with finisher numbers around one thousand in past years, and SPORTident manages the timing. Results, start lists, photos, and race reports are made available for participants after the event.
