The Mondial des énergies vertes Running is a company-specific trail running event held in Besançon, located in France's Franche-Comté region. It offers short race distances of 4 km, 6 km, and 12 km, alongside a relay option. This event is part of the Mondiaux des Energies Vertes, a sports series connected to renewable energy workplaces and sustainable racing practices. The running event typically takes place in early autumn. Recent editions have been held in various French regions, such as Rhône-Alpes and Vaucluse, prior to its relocation to Besançon.
The Besançon courses traverse the old town, the citadel, nearby hills, forested areas, vineyard paths, and natural trails, presenting a compact trail experience rather than a city road race. Participants are employees from companies, not the general public. ForTrail is responsible for designing the routes, with Patrice Hennequin contributing through his involvement with both ForTrail and the Besançon Tourist Office. The event strongly emphasizes its environmental focus, using the slogan “A race that will make you green” and positioning the day as an opportunity for clean running.
