The Royan Beach Trail is an urban trail race held in Royan, on the Charente-Maritime coast of western France, each November. It features short off-road-style courses, not mountain distances, with recent formats including approximately 8-9 km options, a 13-16 km race, a relay, and a walking event. TEAM TRAIL 17 organizes the race, now in its third edition, which has introduced a full night-race format along the Royan coast.
The routes combine Royan’s streets, paths, beaches, and sand, with starts and finishes located by the auditorium. The running involves more than just flat seaside jogging; some sections feature tight turns, stairs, climbs, descents, and sand, with total elevation gain around 150-200 m depending on the course. The event also includes short races for children aged 7-9 and 10-12, while the main races have bib limits for each distance.
