The Trail de Haute Provence THP160 is the long race of the Trail de Haute Provence weekend, run during the Ascension long weekend around Forcalquier in southern France. Despite the name, it is 142.8 km with 5,565 m of climbing, placing it firmly in mountain ultra territory rather than a standard 100-mile format. The race belongs to both the UTMB Index and the ITRA National League Montagne, making it relevant for runners chasing international trail credentials as well as a hard local objective.
The route is built around the Pays de Forcalquier and the Montagne de Lure, with the mountain acting as the main test. Runners climb the southern slope, drop into the Vallée du Jabron, pass hamlets and old villages, then climb back toward the ridges where the Alps and Mont Ventoux come into view. The course also points runners toward places such as Vières and old Montlaux, mixing long natural sections with the older stone architecture of Haute Provence. The organizers state that the official route is only open on race day, which gives the event a wilder feel and keeps the full line from becoming an everyday training loop.
