Urban Trail Thonon

Urban Trail Thonon is an October urban trail event in Thonon-les-Bains, a spa town in Haute-Savoie on the French shore of Lake Geneva. The race offers a short and hilly menu: walkers have about 7 km, runners can select a 7 km route with 150 m of elevation gain, and trail runners can tackle 14 km with 300 m of elevation gain, either individually or in a relay. A recent edition had 425 participants, giving it the feel of a local town race rather than a large city event. The route is set within Thonon rather than in open mountain terrain, and the organizers incorporate the town’s stairs as part of the challenge. The slogan, “Thonon l’allure, ça va secouer !”, translates roughly to the pace in Thonon will shake things up. It fits a race where participants can opt for a demanding short effort, a two-person relay, or a brisk walk before returning to the lake and the thermal-town setting.
