Sobre esta carrera
The 2 Turtle Doves Run is a fell race held on Boxing Day, starting from Totley, on Sheffield's south-west edge. Organized by Totley AC, it begins at the club pavilion near the Cricket Inn on Lane Head Road, taking runners across Blacka Moor and Totley Moor. The race is 7.8 km with 270 metres of ascent, run under FRA rules as a BS category event. Entry costs £8, is open to runners aged 18 and over, and benefits S6 foodbank and Edale Mountain Rescue.
The course commences with a circuit of the cricket pitch, followed by a steep ascent on Strawberry Lee Lane. It then proceeds through moorland, woodland, bridleways, a sheep field, and includes a river crossing via stepping stones. Participants will climb to the Devil's Elbow before finishing over Totley Moor. The current finish involves descending Strawberry Lee Lane before a final loop of the field. The route utilizes public rights of way and is partially marked, requiring competitors to follow flags and carry full fell-running equipment: waterproofs, hat, gloves, map, compass, whistle, and emergency food. Certificates are awarded to the leading male and female finishers, the first Totley runner, and age-category victors.
