Sobre esta carrera
The East Grinstead 10K, also known as the Andy Ripley Memorial Run, is a largely flat multi-terrain 10K held in East Grinstead, beginning at Imberhorne School. This community race takes place in October, organized by volunteers from East Grinstead Runners for runners. It typically attracts 300 to 400 participants, from those running their first 10K to experienced club athletes. Chip timing and UK Athletics rules provide a formal race structure while maintaining a local atmosphere.
The route is primarily off-road for the first 7 km, utilizing well-maintained bridleways, before transitioning to 3 km on residential streets. Marshals are stationed along the course, and a water station is available at the halfway point. The race commemorates Andy Ripley OBE, a former England rugby union international and dedicated East Grinstead sportsman who was involved with local athletics and triathlon clubs prior to his death from prostate cancer. All proceeds benefit local charities, including East Grinstead Lions, their prostate cancer screening initiatives, and Being Neighbourly.
