Sobre esta carrera
The Sports Mate Run Akabane Arakawa Half Marathon is a small riverside race on the Arakawa riverbank in Kita, Tokyo, approximately a 20-minute walk from Akabane Station. The main event is a half marathon with a 3-hour time limit. On the same day, 10 km, 5 km, and 3 km races are also available, along with a 3 km parent-child run for children aged three to elementary school age accompanied by a guardian. The field is limited to 500 participants, giving it the feel of a local running event rather than a large city race. The flat course is suitable for newer runners practicing, while experienced runners can use the automatic timing to aim for a personal best.
The route begins near Shin-Arakawa Ohashi Bridge and proceeds toward Toda Bridge over a 2.5 km out-and-back section. Aid stations are located at the start and turnaround points, offering water, fruit, and chocolate. Finishers receive printed completion certificates with their times on the same day. Awards are presented to the top three finishers in each category. The event's practical setup includes bib distribution at registration, immediate results issuance, and the option for runners to depart after finishing. Baggage is stored on blue sheets, with plastic bags provided in case of rain. The nearby Ota-yu bath is recommended for storing valuables, changing, and bathing for a fee.
