Black Canyon Ascent

The Black Canyon Ascent, a race since 1977, is a point-to-point challenge that "demands respect and rewards effort." This climb takes you on a "steady 5-mile climb" gaining nearly 2,000 vertical feet, finishing at the South Rim's amphitheater amidst the park’s "signature piñon-juniper forest" and "crisp mountain air." The paved course welcomes runners and Challenge Walkers. It's "famous for its post-race atmosphere," complete with a breakfast burrito and "camaraderie at the top." Your race bib acts as a ticket for re-entry into the Park and a free beer or soda at Pomona Brewing Company. Proceeds benefit the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park.
