La Troy Turkey Trot 5K es una carrera en asfalto el día de Thanksgiving Day en Troy, New York, con raíces que se remontan a 1916. En aquella primera edición solo se apuntaron seis runners, así que la prueba de hoy tiene ese punto de “empezó pequeñita y lleva toda la vida ahí”, más que la típica carrera festiva de holiday fun-run.
Su gran argumento es la antigüedad: la Troy Turkey Trot figura como la 12th oldest road race in the United States y la 64th oldest in the world. La fuente no cuenta mucho del recorrido, pero la identidad de la carrera queda clara: correr la mañana de Thanksgiving en Troy dentro de una de las tradiciones de road race más veteranas del país.
