Sobre esta carrera
The Watsontown JesVic 5K begins on Main Street in Watsontown, Pennsylvania. A 5K race starts at 9:00 a.m., followed by a half-mile kids race for children 12 and under later in the morning. The event originated in 2007 as a memorial for Jessica Wade and Vicki Hitesman, two local women who passed away from cancer.
Jessica Wade, a 20-year-old Warrior Run High School graduate and athlete, aspired to run a marathon. Vicki Hitesman was a former nurse, a Hodgkin’s disease survivor, and came from a running family that supported Warrior Run cross-country. The event gathers runners, walkers, volunteers, spectators, sponsors, and friends. Funds raised assist local families facing disease and medical expenses; over its first 15 years, the event generated more than $60,000.
