About this race
The Vienna Triathlon is an annual multi-day event held on the Donauinsel, a long island in the Danube River within Austria's capital city. Evolving from the Vienna City Triathlon, it is now known as the P3 Vienna Triathlon. The races focus on short, accessible distances, moving beyond a sole emphasis on long-course competition. Available distances include a Sprint of approximately 750m swimming, 20-22km cycling, and 5km running, alongside an Olympic distance featuring 1.5km swimming, 40km cycling, and 10km running.
The Donauinsel location situates the race near central Vienna while providing athletes with a dedicated outdoor space for swim-bike-run events. Newcomers may opt for the Ladies Triathlon, comprising 150m swimming, 10km cycling, and 1.5km running. More experienced athletes can compete in the Sprint, Olympic, Aquabike, or Bike/Run categories. The Olympic race has served as the Austrian national championship, and national titles for shorter distances were determined here during the event's early years. A local custom is the King/Queen of Vienna classification, which aggregates results from both the Sprint and Olympic distances.
