2. Totes Gebirge Trail & Berglauf

The Totes Gebirge Trail & Berglauf is a summer mountain running event in Styria, Austria, taking place in a protected area of the Totes Gebirge near Wörschach and the Liezener Hütte. Participants can choose between two race formats: a shorter Berglauf and a longer trail race. The Berglauf covers a compact yet steep 7.7 km ascent, beginning at Schönmoos (1,100 meters) and concluding at the Liezener Hütte (1,800 meters). The short race involves a 700-meter elevation gain and a 60-meter descent, meaning the majority of the effort is directed uphill. While there is no overall time limit for the Berglauf, participants must arrive at the hut finish by 14:00. Entrants must be at least 16 years old. The event is organized by Alpenverein Sektion Liezen in conjunction with a mountain sports festival. Competitors receive detailed course information beforehand, such as GPX data, an elevation profile, and a route map.
