IRONMAN 70.3 Zell am See - Kaprun 2026

SUN, August 30, 2026 · Zell am See-Kaprun , Austria

About this race

IRONMAN 70.3 Zell am See-Kaprun is a middle-distance triathlon in Austria’s Salzburg region, centered on Zell am See and Kaprun. It has been held since 2012 and is part of the IRONMAN 70.3 series organized by the World Triathlon Corporation. The format follows the standard 70.3 distance: a 1.9 km swim, a 90 km bike ride, and a 21.1 km run, totaling 113 km, or 70.3 miles. The race utilizes the towns and roads around Zell am See, Kaprun, Bruck, Maishofen, and Piesendorf, with athletes beginning in Lake Zell. It was established as Austria’s second World Triathlon Corporation race at this distance. Early editions provided age-group athletes qualifying slots for the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship. The bike course initially limited the field to 1,800 starters, a revised route then increased capacity to 2,200, and later fields comprised around 2,500 athletes from over 60 nations. A notable event occurred when the same course hosted the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship on a separate day following the local amateur race, with the championship offering a significant European triathlon prize purse.
