About this race
The Kids Trail Kaprun is the children’s race held during The North Face Großglockner Ultra-Trail, a late-July trail running event in Austria’s Zell am See-Kaprun region. This event is for young runners, with a low entry fee, and the larger festival allows families to participate in the same mountain-running weekend as the adults. The main program offers distances from a short 16 km mountain race to a 110 km ultra, catering to both first-time youth runners and experienced alpine specialists.
The adult centerpiece is a 110 km high-alpine loop around Großglockner, Austria’s highest mountain, featuring approximately 6,500 meters of climbing. This route crosses Hohe Tauern National Park, passes 14 glaciers, crosses three federal states, and runs near hundreds of 3,000-meter peaks. The longest race begins at night under headlamps, with other distances available including 84 km, 57 km, 37 km, and 16 km options. Elite trail and mountain runners compete, but the Kids Trail Kaprun and Mini GGUT ensure the weekend includes more than just the ultra, with an expo, pasta, and a concert accompanying the races.
