About this race
The Cape to Cape MTB begins at Cape Leeuwin lighthouse and covers four days of riding north through Western Australia’s Margaret River region to Cape Naturaliste. It is a mountain bike stage race of approximately 200km with about 2,500m of climbing, divided into daily rides ranging from 34km to 59km. The event is Australasia’s longest-running and largest multi-stage mountain bike endurance race, designed for riders beyond the elite: anyone with reasonable fitness and solid MTB skills can complete it.
The route crosses coastal trail networks, National Parks, forest, bush, farmland, mountain bike parks, and private land normally off-limits to riders. The riding combines fast singletrack, farm tracks, groomed downhill sections, fire trails, and short road links, with vineyard stops and brewery finishes providing a Margaret River character to the week. Riders can enter as pairs, race villages manage washing, repairs, food, and next-stage preparation, and the finisher medal functions as a bottle opener.
