About this race
The Hounslow Classic is a weekend of trail running held in Blackheath, located roughly two hours west of Sydney within Australia’s Blue Mountains National Park. The primary event is the Hounslow Marathon, officially 42k but measuring approximately 44.14 km, with a 16k race also offered. For those seeking a complete weekend challenge, the Hounslow Monster Stage race links two events. SingleTrack Events is the organizer, and the marathon typically attracts around 600 runners.
The routes traverse the Grose Valley Wilderness, featuring steep, technical terrain with significant ascents and descents into canyon paths. The marathon involves an elevation change of 1,873 meters, includes six aid stations, and participants have 13 hours and 30 minutes to complete it. The varied terrain, from exposed sandstone ridges and rugged mountain paths to valley sections, contributes to its character, offering a Blue Mountains skyrace feel rather than a typical trail marathon.
