De FERREmen Dottertrail

The De FERREmen Dottertrail is a trail race held in Den Dotter, a nature reserve in Belgium situated between Haaltert, Kerksken, Heldergem, and Aaigem. It is scheduled for November, beginning and concluding at primary school De Krekel in Haaltert. The race honors Ferre, a former student who passed away in July. The course crosses fields and natural paths within Den Dotter, an area named for the kingcup flower. The terrain has damp, fertile ground and meandering streams like the Molenbeek, which can lead to a mix of easy paths and muddy sections depending on the weather. Proceeds from the race will support two departments at UZ Gent, specifically pediatric oncology.
