About this race
The In Flanders Fields Trail begins and ends at Fenix Ieper on Leopold III-laan in Ieper, Belgium, close to the athletics track. This group-start trail race accommodates runners of all abilities, offering a selection of distances that have included short 8 km options, longer routes, and, in its fifth edition, a 42 km marathon-length course. The initial start is in the morning. The event maintains a practical setup with marked routes, showers, and ample parking.
The course is predominantly off-road, with over 80% of the route on unpaved paths through wooded areas surrounding Ieper. Participants will run through former First World War battlefields, such as De Palingbeek in Zillebeke and the Gasthuisbossen near Bellewaerde. Short ascents punctuate the forest trails. Aid stations are positioned based on distance. Each entry contributes 1 euro to Natuur&Bos, with additional proceeds allocated to other charitable causes.
