Limburg Wine Trailrun
The Limburg Wine Trail is a trail run through South Limburg's hill country, incorporating wine tasting throughout the day rather than solely at the finish. Participants begin and conclude at Kasteelhoeve Cartils, located next to Kasteel Cartils in the Eyserbeek valley between Gulpen and Eys. Runners can select from 10, 15, or 20 kilometer distances. The courses are not flat; the 10 km route includes 220 meters of elevation gain, the 15 km has 300 meters, and the 20 km features 370 meters.
The course crosses a blend of paved and unpaved paths, featuring rolling hills, estate grounds, and vineyards within the Limburg Heuvelland region. Along the route, runners sample local Limburg wines accompanied by small food pairings, making the event a combination of trail race and mobile wine tasting. Now in its third edition, the event's first two editions sold out rapidly. A Limburg Wine Walk is also offered for those preferring to experience the wine and countryside without running. The day concludes back at Cartils with music and a communal closing.
EnergyVision Dwars Door Hasselt
EnergyVision Dwars Door Hasselt is a city running event held in Hasselt, Limburg, offering race distances from a 1 km kids run to a 21.0975 km half marathon. It is known locally as Limburg’s coziest city run, yet it is also a significant event, with almost 14,000 runners participating in a recent edition, ranking it as the third largest running event in Flanders. The event features 3 km, 5 km, 10 km, 15 km, the half marathon, the Persil Kids Run, and a handbike race.
The half marathon is officially measured and World Athletics-certified, attracting approximately 3,000 runners since its introduction. The children’s run is untimed, while the 3 km through half marathon races utilize chips to record net time from start to finish. Participants receive a commemorative medal, aid stations along the route and at the finish, changing rooms and showers at PXL, bag storage, and results published online and via Het Belang van Limburg’s digital newspaper.
Cité Run Eisden
Cité Run Eisden takes place in October in Eisden-Tuinwijk, starting at Vrije Basisschool de Griffel. The schedule includes a 5 km race in the morning, followed by a 10 km race an hour later. A Kidsrun is held after midday, with children signing up via their school.
The course stays within Eisden-Tuinwijk, passing notable local sites. It accommodates individual runners and workplace teams of five or six, who can enter the 5 km or 10 km races as a group using special team packages. Parking is available at Kerkplein. Organisers will give a surprise to the 50th, 100th, and 200th registrants.
Semi de la Province de Liège
The Semi de la Province de Liège begins on Île Monsin, at the Esplanade Roi Albert near the Coronmeuse tram stop, the terminus of Liège’s tram line. This October road race centers on a half marathon, also offering 10 km and 5 km races, plus children’s events and a walking tour on the same day. The routes are flat and quick, with all finishes located close to the new Coronmeuse eco-district.
The race draws from Liège’s marathon heritage; the city was the sixth globally to host a marathon, and a section of the current route retraces that original path. For the half marathon and 10 km events, the course order has been altered: the final three kilometers of the previous route now form the beginning, and the initial three kilometers are now at the end. Approximately 6,000 runners are anticipated, with the post-race area situated near the parade boats.
Semi-Marathon de la province de Liège
The Semi-Marathon de la province de Liège begins on Île Monsin, at the Esplanade Roi Albert, and concludes near the new Coronmeuse eco-district. It is a flat, fast race day centered on the half marathon and 10 km, with a 5 km race, an 8 km walk, and a children’s race also scheduled. The start area is at the end of the tram line, allowing runners to reach it by tram at Coronmeuse, a small detail that recalls the old Liège marathon era.
The route traces parts of Liège’s industrial and riverside landscape: the banks of the Meuse, the canal, Coronmeuse and its track, the Chertal redevelopment site, and the company roads of Île Monsin, including road number 12. A section of the half marathon follows the path of Liège’s historic marathon; the city hosted one of the world’s earliest marathons, and this event revives that old course. The post-race village is located on the island, near passing boats, making the finish area feel connected to the river and port as much as to the race itself.

Rabo Mescherbergloop
The Rabo Mescherbergloop takes runners into the Savelsbos, located near Eijsden and Mesch in the southern tip of Limburg. Here, Dutch running feels considerably hillier than many anticipate. This annual Maasrunners event is a long-standing fixture among mountain runs in the Netherlands, offering race distances of approximately 6.1 km, 10 km, 16.1 km, and 21.1 km, alongside a Kidsrun for younger participants.
All races commence and conclude at Pisartlaan in Eijsden. The shorter courses follow field paths and forest trails with undulating terrain. The 16 km route incorporates additional ascents and a 180-step staircase within the Savelsbos. Those seeking a hilly challenge without the stairs can opt for the 10 km loop. The event provides essential race-day amenities, including changing facilities, showers, first aid, parking, and the option to purchase MBL shirts when registering.
Mescherbergloop
The Mescherbergloop is an annual running event in Eijsden, located in the southernmost part of Limburg, near the village of Mesch. Its routes traverse the Savelsbos and the rolling countryside surrounding Eijsden, offering race options from a Kidsrun up to a half marathon. The Maasrunners organize the event, which has been a fixture on the local running calendar for over 30 years.
The course presents a varied terrain, not a flat road run: it incorporates hills, meadows, climbs, descents, and a well-known staircase path near Eijsden and Mesch. The primary 10 km race attracts more seasoned runners, while the 5 km provides a shorter option for those new to the event. A 16 km route extends through the Savelsbos and the hills around Eijsden and Mesch, and participants include both local and regional runners.
Drielandenpunt Trail | Trail des Trois Bornes
The Drielandenpunt Trail, also known as Trail des Trois Bornes, starts in Vaals, Limburg, at the Netherlands' highest point. This winter trail and ultra event offers five race distances: 10 km, 18 km, 23 km, 32 km, and 50 km, allowing participants to select a short off-road race or a full ultra-distance event.
The courses feature unpaved paths, hills, and significant elevation changes near the Drielandenpunt, the tri-border area of the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany. The route crosses national borders. Organizers characterize it as a blend of technical terrain and more open running sections. Shorter distances are suitable for beginners, while longer routes provide experienced trail runners with challenging climbs and varied terrain in the border region.
47. Mittsommernachtslauf
The Mittsommernachtslauf is a midsummer night run in Hannover, beginning and ending at the HRC Hannover clubhouse on Weddigenufer by the Leine. It is a relaxed city and street race set in a green environment, featuring a 7.7 km individual run, a 21.1 km half marathon, and a 23.1 km relay for teams of three.
The route follows the same Leine-side path as Hannover’s New Year’s Eve run, but adapts the atmosphere for one of the year's longest evenings. Runners will use the Leine meadows instead of a paved city-centre course. Participants can be solo runners, relay teams, or individuals joining as part of the Sparkassen-Laufpass-Serie for the Hannover region.
