About this race
The Campeonato Brasileiro Aquathlon is a Brazilian swim-run championship held in Imbassaí, Bahia, within the Imbassaí Privilege private condominium. The race follows aquathlon’s straightforward format: athletes swim, transition, then run. It also serves as an Age Group qualifier for the World Championship, attracting a diverse field beyond just local competitors. Categories include children aged 6 to 15, Elite athletes, under-23s, juniors up to 19, and Paratriathlon racers, with starts for the 6-9 age group.
The swim takes place in a shallow brackish river, resembling a lagoon with a maximum depth of about 1.5 meters. Four swim courses are marked by buoys and lanes. Athletes reach transition via a white sand path before running on an asphalt track featuring marine animal mosaics. The transition area is fenced and guided by corridors, allowing spectators to view the action. The event incorporates a strong Bahia cultural element: athletes receive Senhor do Bonfim ribbons, lavender, and a mini trophy in their kits. Baianas in traditional dress distribute accessories, capoeira instruments are played around the venue, and Olodum-style drums provide rhythm at the start. The Paratriathlon field includes PTDI athletes with intellectual disabilities, a significant inclusion in the race program.
