About this race
The Downhill Dash 5km is a summer 5K held at Corktown Park in Hamilton, Ontario. The certified course is promoted as Canada's fastest 5K, designed for quick times. The route slopes slightly downhill, is tree-lined, and fully closed to traffic. Organizers suggest runners typically achieve times 45 to 60 seconds faster compared to other 5K courses.
Runners take a bus to the start line, then race back along the point-to-point course to finish. Custom medals, hot food, drinks, draw prizes, and an awards ceremony await finishers. Awards are presented to the top three men and women overall, and the top three in 10-year age groups from 14 and under to 70-plus. This race is part of the Hausers Pharmacy Hamilton Running Series, where participants earn points in overall and age-group standings. The series includes the Spring Fling 5km, Mother's Day 5km, Crazy 8's Downhill 8km, and Doughnut Dash 5km. The event also generates funds for Stac Hamilton, an organization that provides sports access, mentorship, and educational opportunities for local youth.
