About this race
The Kawartha Lakes Classic Cycling Tour is an annual late-summer ride starting from Oakwood Lion’s Mariposa Community Hall in Oakwood, Ontario, located in the Kawartha Lakes region. This event focuses on charity cycling, not racing, and offers road, road-and-trail, and gravel routes in distances of 20km, 50km, 70km, 100km, and 160km. The tour benefits A Place Called Home, an emergency shelter in Lindsay, with a fundraising target of CA$60,000. Participants contributing CA$150 receive a Canadian-made long-sleeve shirt crafted from sustainable hemp.
The Kawartha Cycling Club members design the routes, ensuring the day emphasizes local riding expertise over standardized course layouts. Riders will find rest stops stocked with refreshments, motorcycle escorts for safety, and lunch provided by Boston Pizza in Lindsay post-ride. Over 170 cyclists participated previously, generating more than CA$44,000 for shelter services across Kawartha Lakes and Haliburton County. This marks the event's 23rd year, attracting individuals seeking a supported cycling experience with a direct local cause tied to each kilometre.
