About this race

Lakeside Laps for Brain Injury Awareness is a fundraising race at Columbia Lake in Waterloo, Ontario. It is hosted by the Brain Injury Association of Waterloo-Wellington and Run Waterloo. The event features a 4 km run, an 8 km run, a 4 km walk, and a 200 m fun run for children age 7 and under. It is designed for runners, walkers, families, and supporters of brain injury awareness, not exclusively for competitive racers. The course is situated around Columbia Lake, with short-distance options suitable for first-timers and younger participants. All finishers receive a medal, and children age 12 and under receive discounted entry for the 4 km and 8 km races. Following the race, participants can enjoy pledge prizes, food, refreshments, and music. Proceeds benefit BIAWW programs in advocacy, education, empowerment, and connection. The event also highlights brain injury survivors’ need for improved services and brain safety topics like helmet use and concussion prevention.
