About this race
Northumberland Run Forest Run is a small trail race in Roseneath, Ontario, starting from the Northumberland Forest area on Woodland Road. This June event offers four distance options: The Jenny, a four-hour run on a 3K loop; The Lieutenant Dan, a 7.5K loop; The Bubba, a 9K loop; and the FULL GUMP, which links all three named routes with an out-and-back to Lookout Mountain for 24.6K total.
The race fully embraces its Forest Gump theme, reflected in route names and a trophy for the “Gumpiest” runner in costume. The trails feature Purple Finch, Black Oak, and Sweet Fern. The longer distances are notably hilly, prompting organizers to suggest Lieutenant Dan runners might need “magic legs.” It is self-supported, with runners responsible for their own water and food. Aid is available only at the start area, and carrying a phone or noise-making device is recommended. Dogs are prohibited, and past event sizes indicate around 77 participants.
