About this race
The Ogopogo Extreme Triathlon is a swim-bike-run race series in Penticton and the Okanagan Valley, on the ancestral, unceded territory of the Syilx Okanagan Nation. The location offers athletes warm lake water, challenging terrain, and the long duration suited to Canada's foremost endurance-sport region.
The Okanagan Valley has hosted major triathlons, ultra races, and cycling events for decades, placing the race within an established local endurance culture. Founder Richie Sheldon was inspired to create an extreme triathlon after participating in Patagonman in Patagonia, an influence that suggests a more rugged, nature-focused style compared to a standard city triathlon.
