About this race
The Run With Responders 5K begins and ends at the Windsor Firefighters Monument on Windsor Civic Terrace in Windsor, Ontario. The event starts Sunday morning and includes local emergency services. The primary event is a 5K run or walk. Families can also participate in the CKLW AM800m Kid's Run or the Kid's Dash. First responders are not required to join; the event is open to all participants. The 5K offers chip timing and awards for the top overall male and female finishers, as well as age-group winners from 10 and under up to 80+.
The 5K follows an out-and-back course on the Riverfront Trail. Runners head west through Dieppe Park, passing the Legacy Beacon and Streetcar No. 351, and continuing through Windsor Sculpture Park before returning to the Firefighters Monument. Police, Fire, Essex-Windsor EMS, and CBSA vehicles are positioned along the route, directly reinforcing the race's responder theme. Volunteers manage water stations every kilometer. A lead bicycle escorts the main field, and a trailing bicycle accompanies the last participant. The event supports the Canadian Mental Health Association, the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Ontario, and the Windsor Firefighters Benefit Fund. Post-race food is provided by Tim Hortons. Medals are guaranteed for the first 450 registrants, and cash prizes are awarded to running clubs with the largest participating groups.
