About this race
The Superhero Run is a September morning run and walk in Assiniboine Park in Winnipeg, built around kids fighting DIPG and other childhood brain cancers. It offers a 5K run/walk, a 10K run, and a virtual 5K, so people can join as serious runners, casual walkers, families, teams, or remote supporters. The event is tied to Madox’s Warriors Foundation, with registration and donations going toward research for Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma, an aggressive childhood brain cancer.
The superhero theme is literal: participants are encouraged to show up dressed as their favorite superhero and run or walk in honor of children facing brain cancer. Team entries are part of the setup, with family and team captain options for both the 5K and 10K, and young children can register at a reduced rate. The virtual 5K includes a medal and bib but no shirt, which makes it more of a support-from-anywhere option than a full race-kit substitute.
