About this race
The Tally in the Valley Trail Race takes place in late July at the Dundas Valley Conservation Area in Hamilton, Ontario, starting at 7:00 a.m. Participants run a 7 km loop through Carolinian forest, primarily on groomed double-track trails. Options range from a single loop to a 21 km run, a 100-mile distance, or timed races of 6, 12, or 24 hours.
Each loop involves a 130-meter elevation gain, presenting rolling hills that accumulate over distance rather than technical challenges. The loop direction alternates annually. Completing 23 loops, totaling 100 miles, earns a custom belt buckle. The Gong Show, an elimination race modeled after Big’s Backyard Ultra, requires runners to finish each 7 km loop within an hour. La Sportiva provides demo shoes and giveaways, THN Labs offers maple-and-tahini gels, and the event supports SickKids.
