About this race
The Oxbow 50 is a 50k trail ultra held in Spruce Woods Provincial Park, Manitoba. A shorter 15k option is available for those seeking the same terrain at a reduced distance. The 50k race begins in the morning with a ten-hour cutoff for completion. Participant numbers are limited to 100, fostering a close-knit trail community atmosphere rather than a large-scale event.
The course navigates the Trans-Canada, Epinette, and Yellowquill Trails. Organizers characterize the terrain as consistently undulating and more challenging than initially perceived. Aid stations and first aid support are positioned along the route. All participants receive an Oxbow 15/50 patch. Early registrants for the 50k will be awarded a finisher shirt. A post-race meal is included to conclude the day. The event commences with a land acknowledgement recognizing the ancestral lands of the Anishinaabeg, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, and Dene Peoples, and the homeland of the Metis Nation.
