Run The Caves
SUN OCT 4
Run The Caves is a fall trail race and ultra held at Warsaw Caves Conservation Area in Warsaw, Ontario, located approximately 25 minutes from Peterborough. The race begins at 289 Caves Road, within a wooded conservation area situated in the Indian River valley. Participants can select from a 1 km kids' run, 5 km and 10 km walk/run options, a 25 km, a 50 km, or a 15 km virtual run. The 25 km and 50 km races also accommodate team or duo entries, making the event suitable for children, walkers, novice trail runners, and those seeking a challenging day on technical terrain. All races are bib and chip timed, with awards presented to the top male and female finishers in each distance category. The course primarily consists of single-track trails winding through old-growth trees, featuring a soft forest floor, rocks, roots, sandy beach sections, open limestone areas, and some gravel roads. Warsaw Caves offers over 20 km of trails, with additional amenities including swimming, fishing, camping, picnic spots, overlooks of the Indian River valley, potholes, kettles, and the unique disappearing river that flows underground. Body and Mind Adventures organizes the race, emphasizing accessibility and supporting a mental-health cause, with a portion of each registration fee donated to the Canadian Mental Health Association. The event is cup-free, encourages environmentally friendly practices, provides handmade medals to all participants, and offers vegetarian chili and buns at the finish line; camping on-site is also available for the weekend.
Fenelon Falls Turkey Trot Trial Race & Family Fun Run
SAT OCT 10
The Fenelon Falls Turkey Trot Trial Race & Family Fun Run begins and ends at Garnet Graham Beach Park, located on Cameron Lake in Fenelon Falls, Ontario. Taking place on Thanksgiving weekend, it offers participants a few straightforward options: a 1K kids family run/walk, a 5K, a 10K, or a walk. The primary course follows a flat, quick out-and-back path along the Kawartha Rail Trail, predominantly surfaced with gravel and screenings. This event is designed for runners, walkers, children, families, and anyone seeking a relaxed holiday-weekend race. The event also provides support to Women’s Resources.
Fat Ass Trail Run
SUN NOV 15
Fat Ass Trail Run is a November trail race day held at Batawa Ski Hill in Batawa, Ontario, offering distances from a kids' 1 km to 50 km. The schedule progresses through the day: the 50 km begins first, followed by the Bad Ass 6 Hour, then the 24.5 km, 16.5 km, 10 km, 7.5 km, 5 km, and the Big Bum Kids' race. The 6 Hour event is straightforward and demanding: participants repeatedly run a 7.5 km loop, tallying their completions before the time limit. The 50 km involves five approximately 10 km north-loop laps, featuring a strict late-day cutoff, a headlamp requirement after mid-afternoon, and pacers permitted only on the final loop. The trails comprise rocks, roots, wide paths, singletrack, wooden bridges, creek crossings, hills, and meadows. The day's conditions can vary significantly based on whether Batawa experiences snow, mud, or clear weather. Three aid stations serve the south loop, north loop, and connector area, providing water, Tailwind, and snacks. Runners must supply their own cup or bottle as the event is cupless. The race commenced in 2003 with 23 participants and now attracts competitive runners, walkers, children, older participants, and novices within its unadorned format. In keeping with the fat-ass tradition, adult finishers do not receive medals; awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers in each distance, while children in the 1 km race get ribbons.

About 10K races in Peterborough

Peterborough Training Notes

Peterborough hosts 5 10K races in 2026 within 80 km of the city centre — upcoming dates, recurring series, and other races nearby, all in one place.

Locals run Jackson Park when they want woods close to town, and Harold Town CA when they want singletrack, repeats, and a proper mess of trails. Harold Town CA is basically a big hill, and the Runway trail sits on the southwest side while Screaming Trees runs near a steep drop. The Runway trail is 59 km and gains 107 m. Screaming Trees is 0.9 km and gains 82 m. Locals use Monarch Ultra 10km, Riverview Park & Zoo Fun Run and Walk, Middle Path Trail Race, and Run The Caves as anchor races.

Peterborough Cycling Club is the hub, and PCC has road, gravel, time-trialling, cyclocross, Dirt Squad, and the Thursday Nighter. Locals ride Z2 out of town fast, because country roads show up within 10 minutes. The Lakes, Rivers and Cafes route rolls 60 km from Peterborough through Bridgenorth, Selwyn, and Lakefield with Otonabee River time past Trent University. The gravel roads between Peterborough and Warsaw are some of the quietest roads anywhere. The 8 km gravel route gains 472 m and keeps 51% unpaved. The climbs sit south, where drumlin hills run 400-800 metres long through farm country.

Summer gives the cleanest base miles, long rides, and race sharpness, while fall brings PCC cyclocross and rougher trail rhythm. PCC starts its 2026 season launch on March 30 at Wild Rock at 6:30 PM, then the calendar rolls through Spring Classic, Women's Day Ride, Road Worlds, TT Worlds, The HunTer Fondo, and President's Cup. The HunTer Fondo gives riders a 30 km anchor event, and the 100 Acre Gravel Race keeps gravel legs honest in the hills. Winter changes the work. Trails at Harold Town CA can get very slippery after rain, and cold snaps push both runners and cyclists toward shorter intervals, steadier Z2, and smarter route choices.
