About this race
The Easter Backyard Ultra is a small backyard ultramarathon held in Steinhausen, Zug, Switzerland. It typically takes place around the Easter period and begins at noon. Participants run a 6.706-kilometer loop, starting again exactly one hour after the previous start. Any remaining time within the hour can be used for breaks before the next loop begins. The race has a limit of 60 runners and follows the standard backyard ultra format: continue completing the hourly loop until you are unable to start the next one.
The loop's design distinguishes this race. It is promoted as Switzerland’s first backyard ultra featuring singletrack, with a course composed of approximately 20% single trail and 80% gravel. Each lap involves 492 feet of elevation gain, meaning the repeating course is more than just a flat challenge. Jan Bruhnsen is the organizer, and the facilities are functional: heated tents or pavilions are provided for runners overnight, a cold buffet is available from the beginning, warm meals like risotto or pasta are served later, and toilets are on-site, though showers are not. A Family Run is also included in the event.
