About this race
Farnerensturm is a short, steep mountain race based in Schüpfheim, with the start and finish near the village schoolhouse. The race begins in the afternoon. The format is simple: run up to the Farneren summit, touch the high point by ringing the storm bell, then descend to the start/finish as fast as possible.
The course is about 7.5 km, but it includes 850 m of climbing and the same amount of descent, making it a hard up-and-down effort rather than a flat road race. Markings are placed at branch points on the route. The schoolhouse provides bib pickup, toilets, and valuables storage. Parking is available nearby, and Schüpfheim station is about 400 m from the start.
