About this race
The Lausanne Marathon begins at Place de Milan, leading runners along Lake Léman before returning to finish near the Olympic Museum fountain in Ouchy. This annual October event in Lausanne, Switzerland, features a 42.195 km marathon, a 21 km half marathon from La Tour-de-Peilz to Lausanne, and 10 km races for runners and walkers. The Lausanne running schedule also includes the 20 km de Lausanne in April.
The course follows the lakeside road towards La Tour-de-Peilz, passing near Vevey and the Lavaux vineyards, offering a distinct Swiss Riviera atmosphere instead of a city-loop course. Established in 1993 with the opening of the Olympic Museum, the event has become a major sporting occasion in Canton Vaud, attracting thousands of participants and visitors. Ethiopia's Tesfaye Eticha holds a place in its history with seven victories, and charitable affiliations, like support for Léman Hope, contribute a community dimension beyond the competition.
