SwissCityMarathon - Lucerne

The SwissCityMarathon in Lucerne, Switzerland, has been held annually since 2007, starting and finishing at the Swiss Transport Museum. The event features a full marathon, a half marathon, and a 13 km "try-out marathon" for a shorter option. The inaugural race had 5,594 finishers, setting a record for a Swiss running event debut and placing Lucerne third among Swiss marathons in size, behind Zurich and Jungfrau. The marathon course is a half-marathon circuit completed twice. It begins on Haldenstrasse, passing the chapel royal and historic luxury hotels, then proceeds from Schwanenplatz across the pier, offering views of the Chapel Bridge, Water Tower, and Old Town. The route includes the Lucerne Culture and Congress Centre, a loop around the Horw peninsula, and follows Lake Lucerne with the Central Swiss Alps visible. Runners return via Allmend stadium to the pier and museum. The 13 km race concludes in Horw. The Lucerne Marathon Association organizes the event, with Swiss marathoner Viktor Röthlin as its ambassador.
