About this race
Montreux-Les-Rochers-de-Naye is a July mountain running series in the canton of Vaud, Switzerland, connecting Montreux with the Rochers-de-Naye. The event has been held since 1981 and is organized by the Club Athlétique de Montreux. Its primary race is La Classique, the direct descendant of the original Montreux-to-Rochers-de-Naye route, attracting both amateur and professional runners.
The race originated from an earlier Montreux-Les Paccots event, then moved to a route ascending from Montreux through the Chauderon gorges toward Rochers-de-Naye. Starts are released in blocks because the gorge trail can become congested as the course narrows. Winners are awarded a giant channe, a traditional prize they may keep after winning three times, and women have been eligible for this prize since 2016. The series has also featured the Caux-Les-Rochers-de-Naye race, now known as La Cadette, and a vertical kilometer race called Directissime from Caux to Rochers-de-Naye via a more direct path.
