About this race
Openswim Léman-Prangins is an open-water swimming event in Lake Geneva, in Switzerland’s Canton of Vaud, held at the end of July. Swimmers choose from 1.25 km, 2.5 km, and 5 km races, with the 5 km listed as the most popular option. There is also a 500 m team relay, split into four 125 m laps, which offers a shorter and more social race format alongside the longer lake swims.
The course focuses on swimming in the Léman rather than running through a city or looping around a stadium. After the race, participants are close to Château de Prangins, which has a historic vegetable garden and exhibitions, and Nyon’s old town and local market are nearby. The wider Vaud region also gives travelling swimmers easy side trips to the miniature trains at Swiss Vapeur Parc, the cheese-linked medieval village of Gruyères, and Lake Joux in the Joux Valley for hiking.
