Villars Ultraks is a mountain trail race held in Ollon, within Switzerland’s Vaud region, utilizing the Vaudois Alps. Participants can select from various distances, ranging from a 6 km option to approximately 50 km, accommodating a broad spectrum of runners. The primary courses include Cham (20.7 km with 1,228 m elevation gain), Roc (28.8 km with 1,849 m gain), and Argentine (48.9 km with 3,143 m gain). This event takes place in June and is part of the Ultraks series, which introduced Villars in 2021.
The routes traverse local mountain paths near Villars and Ollon, with elevation gain being a key feature of each main distance. The Cham course presents significant steepness, while the Roc course offers nearly double the climbing of many city marathons within a 30 km distance. The Argentine course serves as the longest challenge, following the contours of the Argentine mountain and covering close to 49 km with over 3,000 m of ascent. The participants include competitive local and Swiss club runners, as well as individuals opting for shorter distances. Previous results indicate that the leading runners on the Cham course can achieve fast times, with winning times recorded under two hours, despite the challenging terrain.
