TMMTR, the TransMoravian Masochist Trail Run, is a 100-mile out-and-back ultramarathon in South Moravia. It begins in Lomnice, proceeds through the Blansko District to the turnaround at Lulec, and returns runners along the same path. The primary race covers 161 km, and MiniTMMTR offers a shorter, yet still challenging, 100 km alternative. The event has a significant history; the main TMMTR is in its 27th running, and MiniTMMTR is in its 13th.
The name sounds harsh intentionally, but the “masochist” element is partly humorous. The true challenge stems from the distance, the course's elevation changes, and the typical South Moravian heat. Participants traverse extended sections of Moravian forests and secluded roads, allowing ample opportunity to observe the Blansko region's scenery. Czech ultramarathoner Tomas Rusek established the race, and its structure remains suited for those seeking a lengthy, arduous run over a refined urban event.
