Běh městem Strakonice

Běh městem Strakonice is an evening city run in Strakonice, South Bohemia, held each August on the anniversary of the Soviet occupation of Czechoslovakia. Runners start together at 6:00 PM and choose either a short course of about 3.3 km or a longer route a little over 6 km. The field is open to athletes of all ages, functioning as a local community race rather than a specialist event. The race uses loops through the town, with the race base at the summer cinema and Panská zahrada, and some editions starting near Strakonice Castle. It began as both a protest and a reminder of the occupation, and organizers insist it must be run on the anniversary itself, even when that clashes with other events. The day often includes a children's run, music or a DJ, a life-saving demonstration, military equipment displays, and a raffle using the runners' bib numbers. One reported edition drew nearly 200 runners, fitting the feel of a compact town race with a strong historical reason for existing.
