Běh na Kozubovou is a 5 km mountain hill climb in Dolní Lomná, a village in the Moravian-Silesian Region near the Czech border with Slovakia and Poland. Runners start at 10 AM by the bakery in Dolní Lomná and climb 500 meters to the finish at the Kozubová tourist cottage. It is a short race on paper, but the numbers indicate its nature: the course gains about 100 meters for every kilometer run.
The route follows forest paths through Polana and the Pod Kykulou saddle before reaching Kozubová. TJ Dolní Lomná organizes the race, with categories for men and women from juniors through veterans over 70, so the field includes more than just mountain specialists. Recent start lists include runners from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Poland, and one recent edition had just over 200 participants. The race also has enough history for course records and family stories to matter, including a men’s winner beating the record holder while his father won the over-60 category.
