Běh Velké skály is a September trail and cross-country race held in Děčín. Participants can choose between approximately 6.5 km and 10.77 km courses. The race begins in the city, quickly leading runners into forests and onto rocky inclines, giving it the character of a local hill race rather than a flat road event. The longer loop covers about 11 km with 345 m of elevation gain, making the descents as significant as the ascents. ASK Děčín is the organizer, with registration located at the club’s athletic stadium.
The course ascends and descends through Červený vrch and Jalůvčí, then crosses the flanks of Papert and Špičák hills. The terrain consists mostly of forest paths and trails, interspersed with sections of gravel, asphalt, cobblestones, and concrete, requiring attention to both footwear and running rhythm. Records for the race date back to at least 2014, indicating a well-established local event that does not feel like a large-scale city competition. Children’s races are also held at the stadium on the same day, with distances varying by age group: the youngest participants run 100 m, and the oldest children compete in a nearly 2 km race.
